Follow the Energy Star on a Path to Efficiency in Your Springdale HomeHave you been looking for an easy and reliable way to save money on your utility bills? If so, you may be surprised to know that, while your HVAC system is likely the biggest contributor to your utility bills, the right equipment can also help to lower your costs significantly. Energy Star is a federal designation given to residential appliances, products and upgrades that have been proven to consume significantly less power than their less-efficient counterparts. Here are a couple of the main benefits of using an Energy Star-certified heating and cooling system.

The first and most obvious benefit of using an Energy Star certified system is that it will require less power to operate, and therefore, will save you more money. You can use an energy usage calculator to compare the energy cost between an older, inefficient system, and a modern energy-efficient air conditioner, heat pump or furnace. Older systems were designed to just get the job done regardless of how much power was being drawn, and while they’re mostly reliable, they also tend to cost a lot of money to operate. Newer systems have been optimized to run without consuming nearly as much power, while delivering superior performance. When you combine that reduction in energy usage with smart, energy-saving tips, you’ll get the same great results from your HVAC system, but without paying a fortune to do so.

Energy Star certified systems also tend to be easier to maintain than their older, clunkier counterparts. While there are plenty of things you can do yourself to extend the life of your heating or cooling system (such as changing the filter regularly and cleaning the coils on your A/C unit), when it’s time to have your system professionally serviced, you’ll find that it won’t cost as much, and you won’t need to have it done as often.
